Youth First Shots Class
Youth First Shots Classes are geared for youths ages 10 to 16 to help them learn and understand the
basic safety rules relating to all firearms. Youth education is requirement of any safety program.
Educating kids concerning firearms will give them the knowledge they need should they ever be in a
situation involving a firearm where an adult is not present.
We have designed this class based on the NRA safety rules. We have added to and expanded those
safety rules. In addition to firearm safety your youth will learn:
- Fundamentals of shooting a rifle.
- Safety Rules for handling long guns and handguns.
- The characteristics of a 22 caliber rifle and its operation.
- Firing a 22 caliber rifle on the range.
- Safe storing for a firearm and ammunition.
Each student who demonstrates the ability to handle a firearm safely will get to fire a 22 caliber rifle
on the range. He or she will get to keep a target and receive a certificate of successful completion of
our Youths First Shots program.
Please note, this program is not designed to take the place of a parents supervision and education of
their child concerning firearms. This class is designed to enhance that knowledge and/or give parents
a starting point in educating their children regarding firearm safety and use.
Due to the size of the classroom, parents will not be allowed to sit in on the class. However, they are
more than welcome to watch them on the range.
Cost for this class is $19.95 and includes all materials.
A parent or legal guardian must be present to sign the liability release form when bringing the student
to class.
